New homes
& Renos

Step 1. Feasibility

Hands up if you have no idea what your budget should be. Guessing you have a rough idea of what you’d like to spend but realistically know, it’s probably going to cost more. After all, you paid way too much for your home/block  right!? Don’t stress. We got you.

Before commencing our whole design service, we start with a feaso. We listen to your brief, collect all the site info required, look over your beautiful inspo images, measure up the house – then it’s time to get real. Our aim is for brief & budget alignment and won’t move forward until this is totally landed. Over the last 12 years we have developed a fabulous method for this. Get in touch to learn more.

Step 2. Design

OK, so the brief & budget are set. Time to design the hell out of it. We love a good tempo so we meet monthly and each time dive deeper to refine the project until it’s looking fabulous and has all the practical elements sorted (plenty of storage, let’s be real). We have a very clear process for moving through designing the outside to designing the interiors & selecting materials. Our beautiful renders actually look like the finished thing!

We’re going to be honest, we do incredible Town Planning applications. SO if your property needs one of those, you’re in the right place. We provide planners with absolutely everything they could ever need and get swift results. We are insanely collaborative with Councils and have a reputation for being not trying to hide or trick planners so they know they can trust our drawings.

Step 3. Documentation

Buildability is key. Our colourful, playful & highly detailed work needs great builders and trades people to bring it to life so we try to make their lives as easy as possible by drawing as many moments as possible. We include renders in our documentation sets so we can quickly communicate our intentions. Our whole aim is to be understood quickly and easily. Our doco drawing sets are often referred to as some of the best by builders, we’re proud of this! We also wine match clients, project materials, location and builders. It’s important to get this right as building takes on average around 9mths.

Step 4. Let’s get it Built!

Once all the permits & contracts are signed, the builder gets to work, and we go into project management mode where we’re on the phone almost every day nutting things out or workshopping even better (and or cheaper) solutions. This process is called ‘Contract Administration’ and our approach is collaborative, emotionally intelligent and fully transparent to maintain quality and respectful relationships with all involved. We love it because we’re bringing our fabulous project to life, pushing to get your family in as quickly as possible, and excited to get the beautiful photographs at the end.

1 What kinds of projects does WOWOWA take on?

We put so much time and heart, and well, you (our amazing clients) into the process and project that we have become very selective in the projects we take on. We love doing new homes and renovations for people who intend to stay 5yrs+ and for clients who are not afraid of colour. Life is colourful, people who want to work with architects have amazing taste which usually includes some gorgeous colouful outfits – you need a space to match!!

2 How involved are you?

Short answer, very! We insist that our clients complete scrapbooks (physical cut outs, or online) showing images of spaces & materials they like. We have a super collaborative process that renders all our project looking different, because all our clients families and sites are so unique.

I know it sounds crazy but we ask you to pick a spirit animal for the project to inform the colour story for the project. It really works!!

3 Does WOWOWA do the outside and the inside?

For our residential clients, yes! We design everything (including the kitchen sink). We are architects and interior designers. We design the joinery within our spaces and suggest appropriate lighting options (although we are currently specifying our amazing  pendant light in everything, check it out!)

4 Do you have a list of builders you work with and can recommend?

Hell yes! We regularly work with a really great group of contractors, but are also happy for you to recommend your own if you want to. Before we embark on any project with any builder, we take them through a WOWOWA due diligence list which includes:

– visiting a recently completed project to check quality

– visiting a project under construction to chat to their subcontractors

– seek reference from another architect who has recently worked with them

5 How do we get in contact?

Firstly, call Monique on 0422 220 081 or email to arrange a casual meeting at your home or new site to chat about possibilities.  This meeting generally takes 1.5 hours, as we take a tour of the home or block and discuss your brief, looking through any images you may have cut out or kept to show us. Then we go through our DESIGN & DELIVERY process with you step by step. It is also a ‘getting to know us’ session – remember, we will kinda be archi-dating for the next year and a half so there has to be chemistry!

6 What if WOWOWA designs something I don’t like?

This is an important question with a simple answer: we will redesign until you do like it! If you still feel we all aren’t on the same page, the fact that we bill monthly and 1 month in advance means you can decide to terminate our contract before the start of the next month and walk away with no hard feelings. This is rare, but it does happen, and we can also recommend another architect who we feel might be better suited to you.
