Step 1. DESIGN

We listen & learn about you and your project goals. We want to collaborate with you, the client, to come up with a design suitable for your needs & budget. All our designs are different because each client is so unique – a quality that we feel should be celebrated. We digest, distil & translate coming up with a range of designs you’ll love then, with your guidance, merge the best ideas into an ultimate concept design.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT involves developing, refining &  material selecting, through drawings, views, visual essays and material boards all so you can know exactly how the space looks & feels. This process evolves over a number of meetings to ensure your ideas are being interpreted and considered in the best way possible.

Step 2. DELIVERY

This stage involves two distinct processes.

CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION involves preparing detailed technical drawings and specification documents to bring our baby to life.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT (Contract Admin) is the part where we handle all communication with builders, including answering questions, overseeing & checking invoices before they’re sent to clients, and conducting site visits every fortnight (as well as at important milestones).

We understand that you have a busy life. You maybe can’t get out to the building site for meet ins often, or don’t feel confident enough to answer builders’ questions on the spot. Let us handle the details for you!

1. What kinds of projects does WOWOWA take on?

Residential new builds & renovations with people & families who are planning to live in the project for 5+ years. We put so much time and heart, and well, you (our amazing clients) into the process and home that you probably wouldn’t want to sell anyway, but it would be wasted on a project that was getting sold after a year. We want to work with people who will take the leap of faith and fall in love with their homes.

2. How involved do you want clients to be?

Short answer, very! We insist that our clients complete scrapbooks (physical cut outs, or online) showing images of spaces & materials they like. We have a super collaborative process that renders all our project looking different, because all our clients families and sites are so unique.

3. If we decide we love WOWOWA and want to go ahead, what happens next?

Firstly, we would be ecstatic! Then we would ask you to sign and send back our client engagement form, and pay a deposit…then we get the ball rolling! Before commencing design we arrange a land surveyor to do a appraisal of the land, and also arrange a time to measure up your home, which usually takes around 2 hours.

4. Does WOWOWA do the outside and the inside?

For our residential clients, yes! We design everything (including the kitchen sink). We are architects and interior designers. We design the joinery within our spaces and suggest appropriate lighting options (although we are currently specifying our amazing  pendant light in everything, check it out!)

5. How do we get in contact?

Firstly, call Monique on 0422 220 081 or email monique@wowowa.com.au to arrange a free & casual meeting at your home or new site to chat about possibilities.  This meeting generally takes 1.5 hours, as we take a tour of the home or block and discuss your brief, looking through any images you may have cut out or kept to show us. Then we go through our DESIGN & DELIVERY process with you step by step. It is also a ‘getting to know us’ session – remember, we will kinda be archi-dating for the next year and a half so there has to be chemistry!

6. Do you have a list of builders you work with and can recommend?

Hell yes! We regularly work with a really great group of contractors, but are also happy for you to recommend your own if you want to. Before we embark on any project with any builder, we take them through a WOWOWA due diligence list which includes:

  • visiting a recently completed project to check quality
  • visiting a project under construction to chat to their subcontractors
  • seek reference from another architect who has recently worked with them

7. What if WOWOWA designs something I don’t like?

This is an important question with a simple answer: we will redesign until you do like it! If you still feel we all aren’t on the same page, the fact that we bill monthly and 1 month in advance means you can decide to terminate our contract before the start of the next month and walk away with no hard feelings. This is rare, but it does happen, and we can also recommend another architect who we feel might be better suited to you.
